By adhering to this sustainability policy, Silent Spring Consultants ensures that all its projects align with the organization's commitment to environmental responsibility, social engagement, economic viability, and continuous improvement.
Guiding Principles:
1. Environmental Responsibility: will identify and assess the environmental impacts of each project and take proactive measures to minimize and mitigate negative effects on the environment. This includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing waste generation, conserving natural resources, and promoting eco-friendly practices.
2. Environmental Awareness Campaigns: We have set up a Newsletter to promote a culture of eco-consciousness within the organization.
2a. Recycling Program: In this newsletter we educate our collaborators about what can be recycled and motivate them to use proper disposal of recyclables at their home office.
2b. Encourage Energy Efficiency: We also give tips about energy-saving practices, such as turning off lights and electronic devices when not in use, using energy-efficient lighting and appliances, and optimizing heating, ventilation, and cooling systems in their home office.
2c. Water Conservation: We raise awareness among collaborators about the importance of conserving water in their home office.
3. Eco-Friendly Office Supplies: We purchase eco-friendly office supplies, such as recycled paper, refillable ink cartridges, and non-toxic cleaning products.
4. Reduce Paper Usage: We are a 95% paper free company. We reduce paper consumption by using digital documentation, reusable material for workshops and using electronic communication and collaboration tools.
5. Green Procurement: we choose environmentally friendly products and services whenever possible. We choose suppliers and vendors that prioritize sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
6. Waste Reduction: We reuse materials when possible, encouraging collaborators to use reusable water bottles and coffee cups.
7. Telecommuting and Remote Work: Our organization uses 95% telecommuting and remote working.
8. Green Transportation: All our collaborators work from home. If we have to meet in person, we use public transportation, carpooling, biking, or walking for commuting to the appointment. We pay the travel cost of our collaborators 100% back if they use public transport.
9. Supporting Eco-Friendly Initiatives and Planting Trees and Green Spaces: In 2023 we decided to donate, for every 500 GBP profit the company makes, one tree (5 GBP) to the National Trust 20 Million Trees Project, because trees absorb carbon dioxide, help improve air quality, improve biodiversity and are a natural cooling solution for Urban Heat Island effect.
10. Carbon Footprint Measurement: We conduct every year a carbon footprint assessment to understand its environmental impact better. We use this data to set realistic reduction targets and track progress over time.
11. Responsible Disposal of E-Waste: We have established proper e-waste disposal procedures to ensure that electronic devices are recycled or disposed of responsibly.
