Urban NBS Day 2022: Co-Finance and Digitalisation for Nature-Based Solutions
Dr Andrea Armstrong, Research Director of Silent Spring Consultants attended the first URBAN NBS DAY last week at the Social Impact Factory in Utrecht, The Netherlands. There were a range of participants including researchers, practitioners and students.
The topic of this first event was co-financing and digitalisation for nature-based solutions. Its an emerging and key topic as while there is a growing consensus that urban nature-based solutions such as green roofs or urban parks contribute to more sustainable cities and enhance the physical and mental health of inhabitants – a challenge to realising such projects is how to finance them alongside a lack of collaboration between stakeholders. One way to tackle this challenge may be to harness and/or develop innovations in digital technologies to encourage and support collaboration between stakeholders. Key note speakers and poster workshops presented a range of insights and novel approaches to foster NBS sustainability and encouraged lively discussions amongst all participants.
